ALIA CARITA TOMPKINS is a writer/director based between Brooklyn and Los Angeles. She earned her BFA in Film & Television Production at the USC School of Cinematic Arts. Alia recently assisted director Padraic McKinley on feature film, THE WEIGHT (Sundance, Berlinale) starring Ethan Hawke. She is an artist resident of the 2026 Locarno Film Festival Basecamp. Alia was selected for the WGA East training program in the writers assistant track, and has supported writers rooms for Amazon Studios helmed by Lulu Wang, Amy Seimetz & Kiese Laymon. Her latest short films ORANGE BLOSSOM and MAMA’S FATTEH screened at the Brooklyn Film Festival, Aesthetica Short Film Festival, Portland Institute of Contemporary Art, Cannes SFC, Female Filmmakers Festival Berlin & more. She’s currently in post on her next short film and is writing her first feature.
